Each month, The Kentucky
Explorer magazine receives literally scores of letters from
our faithful readers. Whenever possible, we try to publish as
many of them as possible in the 12 pages we have set aside for
"Letters to the Editor."
Here are actual letters from September
2009
Guy Blakeman's
Recordings Wanted
Dear Editor:
Kentuckian Guy Blakeman was a well-known fiddler in the 1940s-1950s,
and perhaps earlier. A few years ago, I had an e-mail from a
lady who said her husband, a great-nephew of Guy Blakeman, had
received, as a gift, tape recordings of his music. My efforts
to find a source for his recordings has been without result,
except a CD which has only a few of his recordings, but includes
other kinds of music.
Does anyone know of a source of Guy Blakeman's recordings-either
a current source or recordings that could be copied without infringing
on copyright laws?
Any help would be appreciated.
