Each month, The Kentucky
Explorer magazine receives literally scores of letters from
our faithful readers. Among those letters we often find queries,
ranging from requests for words to songs and poems to trying
to locate former classmates and military buddies of long ago.
Here are a few queries from October
2005
Searching
For Sizemore
Family Singers
Dear Editor:
I am wondering if any Kentucky Explorer readers could help locate
the Gordon Sizemore family of singers.
Gordon, the father, played the guitar and sung with his daughters,
"Doc" and "Betty," over KFAB in Lincoln,
Nebraska, for a number of years (1936-1950s). Their theme song
was about "riding up the trail into their Kentucky mountain
home." The daughters would now be in their 60s and Gordon
would be 90 or more. I know they moved back to Kentucky, when
and where I do not know.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sutton Family
Info.
Dear Editor:
I talked with a lady from Washington County, Kentucky, on August
6th regarding the Suttons. She mentioned the names Alex and Jim.
I would like to have her address, and I would be glad to see
what information I can find on the family.
I also have material on the Suttons of Garrard County.

Pleasant Run
School
In Logan County
Dear Editor:
I attended Pleasant Run School in southwestern Logan County during
the years 1921-1928. I am wondering if there are any Kentucky
Explorer readers who attended the school during these years.
The building, which was located close to the Pleasant Run Church
(still standing but not active), has been demolished.
Any information any reader has to share would be greatly appreciated.
