Each month, The Kentucky
Explorer magazine receives literally scores of letters from
our faithful readers. Among those letters we often find queries,
ranging from requests for words to songs and poems to trying
to locate former classmates and military buddies of long ago.
Here are a few queries from our February

For Long
Lost Friend
Dear Editor:
I am searching for a long lost friend. Her name is Emma Jean
Holloway. She had four brothers: Paul, Norman, Roy, and Billy.
Her mother's name was Iva. We grew up in Wilmore, Jessamine County,
Kentucky. The last time I heard from her she had married a man
named Arthur Shirley and they had a daughter Gloria Jean Shirley
and were living in Covington, Kentucky.
Any information would be appreciated.

Searching
For Info. On
"Bad" Bill Waters
Dear Editor:
My uncle, Bill Jewell, from Tar Ridge, Mariba, Menifee County,
Kentucky, was called for duty in the CCCs and after a week there
he was sent on to the Army. He, along with another uncle, Jeff
Jewell, told me many stories about a man called "Bad"
Bill Waters from the Red River Gorge area. From what I was told
Bill was a ruthless individual.
If readers have heard of this man and would like to share some
of their stories or information, I would like to hear from them.
