Each month, The Kentucky Explorer magazine receives literally scores of letters from our faithful readers. Whenever possible, we try to publish as many of them as possible in the 12 pages we have set aside for "Letters to the Editor." Here are actual letters from our October 2002 issue: Dear Editor: In The Kentucky Explorer
magazine I received dated July/August 2002, on page 101 was a
picture of Cool Springs School, Ohio County, Kentucky, class
of 1919-20. This photo was submitted by Margie Coffey. I was born and reared at
Cool Springs, Ohio County, Kentucky. (1919-20 was before my time). The school burned to the
ground New Year's Eve 2002. This is probably the same school
photo that Margie Coffey submitted. The school was near Cool
Springs Baptist Church, located on a road I call Pewtiss Road.
I lived just below this school. This school was converted into
a living house, and some of my family (Burris) was living in
the schoolhouse when it burned. Some of the Burris family members
were pictured in the photograph. Raylon F. Oller
I want to sincerely thank
you for printing my story in the I Remember section of your magazine
in the April 2002 edition.
Reader Proud Of Heritage Dear Editor: I am writing to tell you
how much I enjoy The Kentucky Explorer, and how proud I am of
the state of Kentucky. I was born at Parkers Lake, Kentucky,
in McCreary County, and I'm very proud of my heritage. I am so glad there is someone
like you putting all the time into something as nice as this
magazine. I can't wait to read all the letters from my fellow
Kentuckians when I receive my copy each month. Ms. Mary Cooper |
