Book Wanted When I was very young I had a book by the name of Braided Straws. It was a gold color, very thin, and had a hardback cover. It was full of short stories and poems for young people. I do not know what happened to it. I was too young to treasure it the way I should have. If any of your readers would know where I could find one, I would truly be grateful. I would be happy to pay a reasonable price for it. Barbara Fugate
I am looking for a group photo that was taken outside near the road at Wooton's Lower School, a school I attended in the lower grades. Mrs. Oma Brewer was our teacher and took the photo in the mid to late-1930s in Leslie County. Classes were taught here in a church house. Some of the family names were Holland, Maggard, Melton, Wooton, and Young. When we moved to Ohio, my copy of the photo was misplaced. I would love to have a copy for my family. I would be glad to pay for the copy. Ruth Young Stephen
I would like to find some greasy bean and
California sweet tomato seeds. Carl and Betty Morrison
I still have some pole bean seeds; such as Baker bean, Callahan bean, Roberts Pole beans, and the rattlesnake pole beans. These are all colored bean seeds. Paul E. Gibson
If any of your readers should have any mustard seed jewelry, I would be interested in buying some. Also, I was wondering if someone could tell
me how to make shuck beans or how to dry beans. My husband told
me about them, and I am at a loss on how to fix them.
I would like to hear from anyone who may know
the words to a poem my mother recited when I was small. Unfortunately,
the only lines I remember are "Oh, Mother, don't you love
the wind?" and "It makes an umbrella of my dress."
I am searching for a tomato seed called yellow red heart. It is an old-fashioned tomato. It has the best taste of any tomato I ever ate. I also would like to find another seed that
I recall from my childhood called yellow wax bunch beans. The
ones my mother had came from Grundy, Virginia, from the Preacher
James Boyd family.
I wonder if any of your readers have a copy
of the song, When I Take My Vacation in Heaven.
I would be so appreciative if I could get a copy. I sang it as
a child on the street corner in what we called, "the Gospel
car." Those were the good old days.
I would like to have a recipe for chocolate
gravy and a simple jam cake. I would also like to have any Southern
recipe that anyone would like to share.
I am looking for some permillion seeds, which
I can't find in the latest seed catalogs. My mom says they are
a long, light-green squash that is very sweet and tasty. If your
readers have any permillion seeds to share, I would appreciate
getting a couple dozen of them.
I would like any photos or information on the old one-room Fairview School, up on Bullskin in Clay County, Kentucky. The old school is now gone. I would like to hear from any of the students
who attended this school. Two of the teachers were Jasper Peter
and Bessie _____.
I would like to know if anyone out there can
tell me where I can get a tape of the song I Saw A Rainbow
At Midnight. My husband is a Marine veteran of WWII,
and he heard this song when he was on his way home from the war.
I would love to get it for him. Can anyone help me?
I have been looking for some old-fashioned, tender-hull fall beans. If anyone can help, please contact me. Loraine Slee |
